Widow pressurized to repay borrowed money commits suicide

A widow allegedly committed suicide here after being constantly pressurized and humiliated by some people to pay back the money borrowed by her Dilbag Singhhusband, police said.

According to a complaint filed by the widow’s son, his father had committed suicide two years ago after failing to pay the amount he had borrowed from Mahendra and his family, SHO of Old Faridabad police station, Dilbag Singh said.

Since then his wife Uma was being allegedly pressurized and humiliated by Mahendra’s family to pay back the loan, the SHO said.

Failing to bear the pressure, Uma too committed suicide by consumed some poisonous substance last Tuesday, Singh said.

On the complaint of the victim’s son yesterday a case was registered under Sections 306 (Abatment of suicide) and 34 (criminal act done by several persons in furtherance of the common intention of all) of IPC and probe was underway, ASI Kuldip Kumar said.
