Aizawl: A 80-year-old man, in a fit of rage, reportedly hacked his 40-year-old son to death with a machete at Sialsuk village in Aizawl district late last night, a police officer said on Wednesday.
Police said that the victim, Thanzova, who was divorced after having two children, had been perpetually indulging in domestic violence in an inebriated state.
None of the villagers knew what actually happened except the fact that some people saw Thanzova heading home in an inebriated state late at night.
Later, the officers on duty at the Sialsuk Police Station were informed about the homicide when it was reported that Liansua, father of the victim fatally hit his son on the neck with a machete.
Liansua was arrested and detained at the Sialsuk Police Station while autopsy was performed on the victims body today after which a funeral would be held.
