Shillong: A senior leader of the armed Achik National Liberation Army (ANLA) militant outfit was arrested along with his accomplice, a police official said.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted raids in Upper Rongjeng village in Meghalaya s Garo hills region after which Binod A Sangma of Anchengbok, self-styled finance secretary of ANLA, was arrested, IG (Operations) GHP Raju said.
Monesh’s arrest was made on Monday based on the lead given by his accomplice Saddam A Sangma of Gambilaga village to a police team from Dainadubi on Sunday night, he said.
Saddam informed the police of Binod s profile and rank in the ANLA and eventually led them to his house too, the official said.
