Jagan says he would oppose bauxite mining in Vizag Agency

Date:

YSRC chief Jaganmohan Reddy today vowed to oppose Andhra Pradesh government’s plan to allow bauxite mining in the Vizag Agency area.

“Despite lakhs of tribals fighting against the proposed bauxite mining, the TDP government is turning a deaf ear and endangering the survival of tribals,” he said, speaking at a public meeting at Chintapalli in the Agency Area.

Reddy alleged that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu used to oppose the mining when he was in the opposition.

“The state government hasn’t formed the Tribal Advisory Committee, which mandates one-third of the members to be tribal MLAs, because a majority of tribal MLAs belong to the YSR Congress,” he added.

Araku MLA K Sarveswara Rao said the bauxite mining would cause severe pollution and ruin the ecological balance.
