Terminator calls Gujarat the California of India

Date:

New Delhi: Former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is in the national capital, showered praises on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday by saying he has always admired him as a leader.

Addressing the 15th Delhi Sustainable Development Summit (DSDS), the Hollywood superstar-turned-politician said he has watched Modi’s functioning when he was the chief minister of Gujarat.

“I have watched Modi very carefully when he was the chief minister of Gujarat. He came up with the idea of covering canals with solar panels. California has drawn lessons from Gujarat,” he admitted.

Modi was very impressive on climate change measures in Gujarat, Schwarzenegger said, hoping that he visits Paris for the Paris Conference of the Parties (COP 21) with ‘an environment friendly mentality’.
