First look of the newlyweds

Date:

Islamabad: Pakistan’s cricketer-turned- politician Imran Khan got married to former BBC weather girl Reham Khan in Bani Gala in Pakistan on Thursday. Their marriage was a low-key affair.

The Islamic ceremony of ‘nikah’ took place on Thursday and a picture went viral on Twitter. It was conducted by Mufti Saeed.

The PTI chairman had earlier this week strongly denied reports that he secretly married ex-BBC weather girl and Pakistani TV anchor Reham Khan, but on Tuesday in London Imran said he was returning to Pakistan to share the “good news” of his marriage.

It was earlier reported that the event would be used to raise funds for Imran’s Shaukat Khanum Cancer Memorial Hospital in Lahore. His party on Thursday denied such reports.

“There are no such ticketed cards and no grand function…Imran is in no mood to celebrate after the Peshawar tragedy,” Mazari added.

The cricketer-turned-politician was married to Jemima Goldsmith till 2004; they have two sons.

Reham Khan, who was a weather presenter on the BBC, is now an anchor with Pakistani channel Dawn News and has three children from an earlier marriage.
