Bus fare reduced in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Aug 17 (PTI) With announcement on cut inthe price of petrol and disel, the Odisha government todayreduced bus fares across all categories through the automaticfare adjustment mechanism. The fares of ordinary and express buses have beenreduced by 1 paise per kilometer and by 2 paise per kilometerfor deluxe and AC deluxe buses, a notification issued by theCommerce and Transport department said. As per the new price, the fare for ordinary buses hascome down to 58 paise from 59 paise per kilomter, expressbuses from 62 paise to 61 paise, deluxe buses from 82 paise to80 paise and AC deluxe buses from Rs 1.03 to Rs 1.01 paise perkm. As per the demand of All Odisha Private Bus OwnersÂ’Association, the state govenrment on June 4 had implementedthe automatic mechanism for revision of fares. According to provision of the automatic mechanism, thefare for ordinary and express buses would be hiked by onepaise per km if the price of diesel is hiked by Rs 2 perlitre. The fare of ordinary and express buses to be reduced byone paise per km if the price of diesel is reduced by Rs 2 perlitre as per the automatic mechanism. Similarly, the fare for deluxe and AC deluxe buses tobe hiked by two paise per km if the price of diesel isincreased by Rs 2 per litre. The fare for deluxe and AC deluxebuses would be reduced by two paise per km if the price ofdiesel is reduced by Rs 2 per litre. The price of diesel was cut by Rs 2 per litre whilethe petrol price had been reduced by Rs 1 per litre recently.PTI AAM PRPR
