MP HC stays doctor’s reinstatement in medical negligence case

Indore, Aug 17 (PTI) The Indore bench of the MadhyaPradesh High Court today stayed an order reinstating a ladydoctor who was suspended on the charge of negligence followingthe death of an infant at the district hospital here. A division bench of Justices P K Jaiswal and D K Paliwalstayed the order while hearing a public interest litigation. "The bench has stayed the June 30 order of the governmentreinstating Dr Anubha Shrivastava," said the petitionerZeeshan Khan’s lawyer, Shanno Shagufta Khan. Besides Dr Shrivastava, a nurse, an attendant and asanitation worker were also suspended. But the doctor wasreinstated within a month without waiting for the report ofa magisterial probe, the lawyer said. Sangita Baghel, who lives here, gave birth to a girl onJune 3 at the district hospital. Two days later, the newbornwas administered a vaccine after which she developed highfever and died on June 6. The parents alleged that negligence of the hospital staffwas responsible for the death. They also alleged that her bodywas left unattended in the hospital mortuary, and ants werefound to have eaten a part of it. PTI HWP MAS KRKSC
