Devotees pay ‘Homage to Srila Prabhupad’ in ISKCON

celebrations Kolkata, Aug 21 (PTI) To mark the Golden Jubileecelebrations (1996- 2016) of International Society for KrishnaConsciousness (ISKCON), devotees organised a "Homage to SrilaPrabhupad" to pay tribute to the founder Bhaktivedanta SwamiSrila Prabhupad. Glittering lights, melodious chanting of Hare Krishnamahamantra by several devotees transformed the auditorium ofPrabhupad Samadhi Mandir at ISKCON Mayapur in Nadia districtinto a transcendental world even as rich tributes poured infrom all over the world in the form of messages includingPresident of India Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minster NarendraModi and UK PM Theresa May. "I pay my humble tribute to the contributions of ACBhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad who incorporated ISKCON in 1966and whose teachings continue to resonate in the hearts ofKrishna devotees all over the world even today," PresidentMukherjee said in his message. PM Modi has congratulated ISKCON and written "journeyhas been manifestation of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam integrationcore of philosophy". May in her message mentioned, "For fifty years sinceits foundation by AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad, the menand women behind ISKCON have dedicated their lives to thewords of Lord Krishna to achieve peace and unity." The programme started with "Sasti vachan" presented bystudents of Gurukul followed by bhajan by renowned singerHaimanti Shukla rendered bhajan. PTI SCH SUSSUS
