City devotees pay obeisance at Ranthambore Ganesh

Mumbai, Sep 6 (PTI) A group of over 75 devotees fromMumbai, Delhi and suburban Bhayandar offered prayers at thefamous Lord Ganesh temple in Sawai Madhopur district inRajasthan. As many as 60 devotees from Mumbai and neighbouringBhayandar and 15 pilgrims from Delhi converged at RanthamboreFort temple in Sawai Madhopur and jointly offered prayers tothe elephant-headed deity on September 4 to mark the 10-dayGanesh Chaturthi festival. Devotees under the banner of Jai Ganesh Mitra Mandalin Mumbai have been visiting the place for the past 24 yearsas part of the annual pilgrimage, said Pramod Harlalka, one ofthe devotees of the group. Built in 1299 AD, the temple is about 12 kms fromSawai Madhopur and is visited by thousands of visitors duringthe festive from across India and abroad. Explaining the significance of the temple, Harlalka,said, "It is the only Ganesha idol in the world in which thedeity has three eyes, thus, called as ‘trinetra’ Ganesha. Itis the most famous and oldest temple of Lord Ganesha inRajasthan." He claimed that Lord Ganesh of Ranthambhore has a lorethat if a homeless devotee visits the place, his wish to own ahouse is surely fulfilled there. PTI APMARS
