Date:

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 6 (PTI) CPI(M) veteran V SAchuthanandan has shot off a letter to the Chief Secretary, expressing displeasure over certain issues related to theAdministrative Reforms Commission (ARC), of which he is thedesignated chairman. He sent the letter a day after openly rebuffing ChiefMinister Pinarayi Vijayan’s remark that he had assumed officeas Chairman of Administrative Reforms Commission. Sources close to the former Chief Minister had pointed outthat he was not consulted while finalising the terms andreferences of the Commission and also on selecting the Officefor the Commission. Achuthanandan had asked for an office for the Commissionin the Secretariat annexe building, while the government hadallotted it at the IMG building at Vikasbhavan. Yesterday while answering questions on the delay in takingover as Chairman, Achuthanandan had said "Ask the persons whomade the appointment". Delay in allotting staff and office for the Commission wasstated to be reason for Marxist leader’s discontent. However, CPI(M) state Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan madeit clear that there was no confusion over the matter andAchuthanandan had informed the government in writing that hehad assumed charge. The order on the constitution of the Commission was issuedon August six and in continuation of that, an order detailingthe staff pattern and terms and reference of the Commissionwas issued on August 30.
