Dental doctors seek enhancement in retirement age to 65 years

New Delhi, Sep 13 (PTI) An association representingdental doctors today sought increase in retirement age to 65years. A delegation of the association met Minister of State forPersonnel Jitendra Singh seeking his intervention againstalleged discrimination towards them in the matter of age ofsuperannuation. The delegation led by H P Singh, president of CentralGovernment Dental Doctors’ association handed over amemorandum to Singh. The doctors pointed out that whereas the centralgovernment has raised the superannuation age of non-teachingspecialists sub-cadre, public health sub-cadre, General DutyMedical Officer sub-cadre of Central Health Service to 65years, the same rule somehow, did not became applicable todental doctors working. This has led to feeling of discrimination and grievanceamong the central government dental doctors, they alleged. The memorandum said that out of 34 sanctioned posts ofdental doctors all over India under the Union Ministry ofHealth and Family Welfare, at present only 24 posts are filledand occupied, a release issued by the Personnel Ministry said. The delegation underlined that they had represented theirgrievance to the Health Ministry and were now approachingSingh in the hope that, being himself an eminent medicalprofessional, he would be able to appreciate their predicamentbetter and project it appropriately to the concerned quarters. Singh gave a patient hearing to the members of delegationand said that he would take up their grievance with the HealthMinistry. Other prominent members of the delegation included GautamKhatak, D Kabi, Rahul Minotra, M Vasu, Meenakshi Panda andNishtha Ramawat. PTI AKVRG
