New Delhi to host India-UK tech summit in November

New Delhi, Sep 13 (PTI) The national capital will playhost to India-UK tech summit in November this year which aimsto bring together leaders in government, industry and researchfrom both countries to broker new partnerships. The India UK TECH Summit 2016, scheduled to take placefrom November 7-9, 2016 will provide a platform for promotingtechnology-intensive trade and investments between the twocountries. "Tech summit will show that when we work together, the UKand India are an ‘unbeatable combination’ as Prime MinisterNarendra Modi has stated. Britain is open for business and wewant to do even more business with India. "The UK has been the top G20 investor in India,consistently, since the turn of the century, and India investsmore in the UK than it does in all other European Unioncountries combined. Our trade relationship is booming, ourresearchers collaborate on all manner of issues, and ourpeople visit each otherÂ’s countries for study and tourism. "The TECH Summit will see British and Indianentrepreneurs, experts and leaders in various fields relatedto technology converge and drive our partnership furtherstill," a British High Commission statement quoting BritishDeputy High Commissioner to India Alexander Evans said. The summit will comprise of separate thematic summits on’Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship’ and ‘BritishExpertise in Higher Education’, ‘Design and IntellectualProperty’. The summit will also host a major delegation from the UK,highlighting the UK’s capabilities across important sectorslike smart cities, healthcare, advanced manufacturing,agri-tech, education and skills. The Summit will also host a major exhibition of UK-Indiatechnological collaboration and excitingly, a Hackathonorganised by Barclays Rise, where young Indian students,entrepreneurs and tech-professionals will participate in acompetition to find a solution to a specially-posed technicalproblem. There will also be a focus on Indian investment andentrepreneurship in the UK and the 10 winners of the TechRocketship Awards will be announced at the Summit. PTI TDSRG
