‘Outsider’ Amar Singh appointed SP Gen Secy by Mulayam

Lucknow, Sep 20 (PTI) Amar Singh, who survived the recent"outsider" storm in ruling Samajwadi Party, was todayappointed SP General Secetary by party supremo Mulayam SinghYadav. "You have been appointed general secretary of SamajwadiParty. I hope in the coming days you will strengthen the partyin Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections," Mulayam said in ahandwritten letter to Amar. The brief letter in Hindi signed by Mulayam on his LokSabha letter head was sent to media from state SP chiefShivpal Yadav’s official e-mail id. Though SP big wigs were strongly opposed to Amar Singh,often described as an "outsider", Mulayam threw his weightbehind him, first by making him a Rajya Sabha member some timeback and now allotting him an important party post.
