Uri attack: Kashmiri Pandit organisation holds protests

Date:

An organisation of Kashmiri Pandits today held a protest at Jantar Mantar here over the recent terror strike in Uri and pitched for stringent measures, both by the Centre and the state government to combat such attacks in the Valley.

All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC) staged the protest followed by a candle march to pay homage to martyrs of Uri attack.

“The protestors, mostly Kashmiri Hindus, who migrated from the Valley 27 years ago, also burnt Pakistani flags and raised anti-Pakistan and anti-separatists slogans,” the APMCC said in a statement.

“State and central governments should take stringent measures to combat growing terrorist attacks in the Valley.

We hope peace prevails and the tormentors are brought to book”, head of APMCC Delhi-NCR, Ravinder Pandita said.

“The recent violence in Kashmir that begun on July 8 after (militant commander) Burhan Wani’s killing has evoked a total protest across the Valley with separatists calling the shots. Kashmiri Hindus in the Valley have been forced to leave their hearth and homes and save their lives,” he claimed.

Eighteen soldiers died in the attack in Uri, in one of the worst terrorist attacks which has drawn worldwide condemnation.
