Fire in Connaught Place no casualty

A fire broke out at a bank in inner circle of the busy Connaught Place area in the heart of the national capital here on Tuesday afternoon but no one was injured. 

According to fire department, the fire broke out at Oriental Bank situated on the third and fourth floor of Harsha Bhawan located at E-block of Connaught Place, a commercial hub. 

Fire department received a call at 11:40 am after which fifteen fire tenders were pressed into service. 

Delhi Fire Services Director A K Sharma said that the fire has been brought under control and there are no casualties in the incident. 

“The fire was at the third and fourth floors and had been brought under control although thick smoke filled the entire complex. The basement plus four-floor building was immediately evacuated and there are no reports of any casualty in the incident. Cooling operations are underway,” Sharma said. 

Fire department said that the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained. 

In another incident, a minor fire was reported at the medicine room in All India Institute of Medical Sciences. 

“We had sent two fire tenders to the spot. Fire had broken out at an AC cabin due to short circuit. It was quickly brought under control and no casualty was reported in the incident,” said another Fire Department official.
