Volvo launches S90 in India

Volvo has taken yet another step to dominate more in the Indian luxury car market with the launch of the flagship sedan S90. Despite of being a CBU product, Volvo stole the show with the pricing of the S90 which is set at Rs 53.50 lakh.

Replacing the S80 sedan, the S90 comes with all fresh design language. It is based on company’s SPA platform and carries design cues from the all new XC90 SUV. Front face gets the massive Volvo signature grille which is very well complimented by the sharp Thor’s Hammer LED DRLs, while the rear gets the same C shaped tail lamps. There is also use of right amount of chrome finishing to add a premium feel to the exterior, and it works!

Inside, the cabin of Volvo S90 feels airy and spacious thanks to the beige in interiors and increased wheelbase. The feature-rich cabin packs a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports GPS navigation and Apple CarPlay, multi-functional 3-spoke steering wheel, Heads Up Display (HUD) unit, electrically adjustable front seats with memory & ventilation functions and 1400 watt Bowers & Wilkins sound system.

Initially, the new Volvo S90 will be offered only with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that makes 190bhp of power and 400Nm of peak torque. The engine comes paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The sedan can be driven in three different modes – Eco, Comfort and Sport.

The S90 will be sold in India as CBU import. Bookings for the sedan have started and the deliveries will commence from December. It will take on the rivals like the Audi A6, BMW 5-series, Mercedes E-class and Jaguar’s XF.
