CBSE request SC not to cancel AIPMT

Date:

New Delhi: Despite massive irregularities because of the candidates, who  cheated in the exam, CBSE has requested the Supreme Court not to cancel the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT).

Expressing their difficulties in conducting a re-test, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) requested the apex court to not withhold or cancels the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) results.

The CBSE, while filing its affidavit has stated that despite the scale of irregularities, the candidates who have cheated in the exam could be thrown out even at a later stage and weeding them out of the merit list is not an impossible task.

A formal permission letter has been issued to the court which requests the panel to issue the merit list of candidates in order to avoid disturbing the entire academic schedule for 2015-2016

The letter stressed on how as many as six lakh students need not appear for another test and that sessions of the court can go on without compromising with the merit.

The officials of CBSE have expressed major difficulties in conducting a re-test, since it would require availability of around 1,060 centers and requisite number of police personnel, invigilators and small staff members.

Fearing a serious adverse effect on the itinerary MBBS/BDS courses and the session starting late eventually, the CBSE officials are not in support of taking this risk.

The declaration of results of the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) was extended till June 12, leaving lakhs of students and their future in a lurch. The results were earlier scheduled to be declared by CBSE on June 5.

The declaration was marred by a paper-leak where as many as 700 students received answer keys through mobile phones during the exam held on May 3.
