Son of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali was detained by immigration at Lauderdale Hollywood Airport Florida along with his mother travelling from Jamaica on Feb 7.
“I was standing in line and letting Muhammad go through immigration ahead of me because he has bad knees and was using a wheelchair,” said his mother Khalilah.

Khalilah was let go once she presented a photograph of herself with her husband whereas Ali Jr. did not have any such proof at that time and was detained.
According to reports, officials repeatedly asked him, “Where did you get your name from? Are you a Muslim? ”
On accepting his religious identity, officers quizzed and pestered him as to where he was born. Ali Jr. was born in Philadelphia 1972, holds a US passport and has no criminal record.

“He was shaken up about it, he has never been treated like this before” Ali’s family friend and attorney Chris Mancini. Ali’s family is considering filing a lawsuit and finding out how many people are going through the same treatment.
“Imagine walking into an airport and being asked about your religion ” Mancini said “This is classic custom’s profiling”
