1 kg Gold bars seized from passenger at Coimbatore airport

Coimbatore: Customs officials on Monday seized 1 kg of gold bars allegedly smuggled fromSharjah  from a passenger at the Coimbatore international airport.

The officials grew suspicious about the behaviour of a youth, who arrived by an Air Arabia flight at around 4 AM

On a search, the officials found one kilo gold bars hidden in the rectum of Saravanan, a native of Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu, police said.

The gold bars were removed after Saravanan was taken to a hospital and he was now being questioned about the source of supply and destination of the smuggled gold, they said.
