Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 to be launched in India likely on February 2019

Date:

The Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi is all ready to launch Redmi Note 5 in India on February 14. Though initially it was speculated that Xiaomi will introduce the Redmi 5 at its forthcoming event in the country, new information has unveiled instead of the entry-level Redmi handset, the Chinese giant will launch the Redmi Note 5.

The device recently received 3C certification in China and in some early leaks, the device was also spotted. Redmi Note 5 will be the successor of the Redmi Note 4 which is claimed to be the “top-selling smartphone” in the Indian market in 2017.

It’s worth pointing out that Techook was the first to spot the evidence of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 launch and it can be found on an event page on the Mi.com site, where a JavaScript code handling the countdown timer on the official site points to a subdirectory titled ‘redminote5’.

Moreover, the meta description of the event page reads, “Presenting the all-rounder #GiveMe5.” Remembering the Redmi Note 4 launch which happened in India in January last year under the presence of Indian cricket all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, the word “all rounder” within the meta description indeed suggests the Redmi Note 4 successor.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 specifications

As per rumours, Redmi Note 5 has a 5.99-inch full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) IPS LCD panel with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, paired with 3GB/ 4GB RAM and 32/ 64GB storage options. The handset is also said to run MIUI 9 with Android 8.0 Oreo.

Reports suggest that Redmi Note 5 will sport a 16-megapixel rear camera sensor and a 5-megapixel front camera sensor. Moreover, it could also have an 8-megapixel front camera sensor with 1080p video recording. It is also said that the smartphone is will come with a 4100mAh battery. Lastly, some early renders revealed a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device.
