MWC 2018: New Nokia 6 to be flagship device for Google’s Android One programme

Date:

HMD Global today announced that it will introduce a version of the Nokia 6 which will be a stock version of Android. Nokia 6 is officially the company’s first smartphone to join Google’s Android One programme, which will be sold at Eur 279 (or approx Rs 22,196).

The Finnish company’s smartphone will hit the retail shelves in early April and it will be available in three colour options: Black/Copper, White/Iron and Blue/Gold.

The new Nokia 6, the upgraded version of 2017 model of the Nokia, will have a Snapdragon 630 chipset, unlike the older version which had a Snapdragon 430 processor. The new version will come with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, whereas the older version had GB RAM and 32GB internal memory.

The top-tier variant of Nokia 6 also comes with a USB Type-C port, instead of a regular micro USB connection. However, the remaining specification is almost same.

The new version of Nokia 6 will sport a 5.5-inch 1080p Full HD display, a microSD card slot, a 16MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera, and a 3000mAh battery. The smartphone will run on Android Oreo out-of-the-box and the “bothie” camera mode which was seen in the Nokia 8 also makes its way to the new Nokia 6.

The 2018 edition of the Nokia 6 was introduced last month in China for 1499 Yuan (or approx Rs 15,306). The Android One variant of the Nokia 6 is the same, except the fact it is running a clean version of Android. The new Nokia 6 is dubbed as a premium smartphone in the mid-end segment.
