Biarritz’s France international prop Fabien Barcella has signed a one-year contract with Toulon, sources close to the player said on Friday.
The 30-year-old Barcella has played for the past six seasons at Biarritz after making his name at Auch, where he won the ProD2 title in 2007.
Capped 20 times for France, Barcella’s career has been hampered in recent seasons by a series of injuries.
Barcella becomes the second Biarritz prop recruited by Toulon this season after Alexandre Menini, signed earlier this week as medical cover for England’s Andrew Sheridan.
Toulon are top of the French Top 14 standings with Biarritz set for relegation next season.
