Naxal Hit village in Chhattisgarh Re-electrified after 15 years

Date:

A village in the Naxal hotbed Sukma district of Chhattisgarh has got electricity connection after 15 long years. The village plunged into darkness when the Maoists destroyed all the electricity infrastructures in the area.

The inhabitants of the Chintalnar expressed their joy over the re-electrification of their village after so many years. “Electrification of this area is a major relief for all of us. It will be easier for children to study at night. It has been more than ten years since the Naxals uprooted the (electricity) poles. We had solar light, but that only fulfilled our basic necessities,” ANI quotes a villager.

The village which is located in southern part of the state has been considered as the core area of the Left extremists. The village is around 80 kilometre away from the district headquarters.

The chief minister of Chattishgarh, Raman Singh told ANI,”The Naxals kept people deprived of electricity. Our jawans sacrificed their lives for this (electrification) and now it is our responsibility to provide them (villagers) with all the facility. By June 2018, we will provide electricity to every village.”

The villagers getting the basic amenities after so many years is without an iota of doubt a major achievement for the security forces. Several Jawans have sacrificed their valuable lives in the area while fighting with the Maoists during road construction and other infrastructural development works.

Notably, the left ultras from the Communist Party of India (Maoist) on 6 April 2010 staged an ambush on the CRPF team near the Chintalnar village in which around 70 paramilitary forces’ jawans were killed.
