Date:

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Friday arrested three aides of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim for allegedly plotting to kill a religious leader to disrupt communal harmony in the country before elections.

The aides, identified as Arif, Abrar and Saleem, were arrested on the behest of inputs provided by the Intelligence Bureau (IB). Reportedly, one of these three aides was on the radar of special cell for past 5 months.

However, top brass of the Delhi police is tight-lipped over the matter and are not divulging any details at the moment.

These aides of Dawood Ibrahim were held on Thursday. They will be taken to the Patiala House Court in New Delhi by 3 pm where they will be produced before the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM). The cops will also demand the custody of the aides for custodial interrogation.

Earlier on March 8, Dawood Ibrahim’s aide Farooq Takla, wanted in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case, had been arrested. He has been deported from Dubai.

Takla had been deported after an operation by an external intelligence agency in cooperation with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities. Takla’s role in 1993 Mumbai blasts case emerged much after the chargesheet was filed.

He is the brother of Mohammed Ahmed Mohammed Yasin Mansoori alias Langda. Takla is considered to be D-company’s manager. He is also wanted in the JJ shoot out case.
