India nets terror mastermind

Date:

New Delhi: Indian Mujahideen terrorist group’s chief, Tehseen Akhtar alias Monu, has reportedly been arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police, in West Bengal near the Nepal border.

Akhtar is said to be involved in the Hyderabad and Mumbai blasts. He is also accused of masterminding the Patna blasts in Bihar last year during the rally of BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

Akhtar is being questioned by the anti-terrorism branch of the Delhi Police and central intelligence agencies.

Mohammad Zarar Siddibappa alias Yasin Bhatkal, had told investigators after his arrest last year that Tehseen, 23, was the operational India head of IM dealing directly with Karachi-based top IM operative Riyaz Bhatkal.

Akhtar’s arrest comes after police in Rajasthan apprehended Pakistan-born bomber Zia-ur-Rahman alias Waqas on Sunday.
