Truck operators to go on strike from June 18

Date:

Truck operators in India are to go on strike from June 18, Monday for an indefinite period as well as the operators associated with the All India Confederation of Goods Vehicle Owners’ Association.

The reason for the strike is to protest against the increase in diesel prices, toll charges and third-party insurance premiums.

Maharashtra alone has around 27 lakh trucks and the diesel price hike by 3.33 from May 14 to May 31 resulted in the increase in the running cost by about 100 crores in one day.

However, the trucks that carry essential commodities will be free from the strike to avoid any inconvenience to the general public.
