Amit Shah arrives in Kolkata; protesters shave heads, shout ‘BJP go back’

BJP President Amit Shah arrived in Bengal on Saturday to some heavy noises of protests from the Trinamool Congress supporters as they welcomed the BJP President in their style.  Ahead of the 2019 polls Amit Shah arrived in Bengal to boost the party’s achievements.

BJP workers in Bengal staged a Kirtan and welcomes Shah with drums and kartals in a traditional way whereas, TMC workers, who wore masks of Shah and carried placards criticising the NRC exercise in Assam.

The protests were led by the Trinamool Lok Sabha MP Mamatabala Thakur. “We are all under attack. We are protesting for the Indians who have been excluded from the NRC list,” said Thakur.

Some Trinamool Congress supporters shaved their heads to protest Shah’s visit to Bengal. Protestors also shouted ‘BJP go back’ slogans.

BJP’s Bengal unit president Dilip Ghosh alleged that their posters and flags were torn by ruling party supporters. “We have also got information that many of our supporters are being prevented from reaching Mayo Road by Trinamool supporters,” said Ghosh.
