Here are the key highlights from the launch of the new 2018 Mercedes-Benz

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class was officially launched in India on Thursday. The refurbished C-Class is only available in the diesel version as of now. It is available in three variants – C220d Prime, C220d Progressive and C300d AMG Line. The ex-showroom prices are Rs 40 lakh and Rs 44.25 lakh and Rs. 48. 50 lakh respectively.

The exteriors and interiors have been changed with a new silver paint job, improved bumpers, new alloys and addition of LED head lamps, tail lamps and the A- class range’s signature diamond- pattern grille design available on the C300d AMG Line on the outside.

A new steering wheel with a dual touchpad control system, rain-sensing sunroof, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch screen for the COMAND infotainment system and NGT 5.5 smartphone integration have been added on the inside. The C300d AMG Line comes with an Active Parking Assist.

The 2018 C-Class now comes with a new 2.0-litre diesel engine in 2 states of tune and the heart of the new C Class has been changed to a new BS6 compliant 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, diesel engine.

The C300d, having the most powerful engine among the three, will be the quickest diesel sedan in the segment. It has a 2-litre engine that puts out 241 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque and a 0-100 kmph done in just 5.9 seconds. The 220d comes with a 2-litre engine that churns out 192 bhp and 400 Nm torque. It clocks 0-100 kmph in 6.9 seconds.

The current-gen C-Class has received an update after four years after being launched in 2014.

The new C-Class is supposed to compete with its German rivals, the BMW 3 Series, the Audi A4 and the Jaguar XE from Britain as well.
