Here’s why you get motion sickness after watching virtual reality

Date:

The researchers from the University of Waterloo have laid out a prediction that people who watch virtual reality can get motion sickness. The observations were carried out on the basis of the behaviour of individuals in response to a moving visual element.

There is a term called cybersickness in which one develops discomfort and nausea that lasts for long hours at a stretch. There are a number of virtual reality applications that are used for gaming, skills training, and for rehabilitation in clinics.

The assessment and analysis of the disease were published in the Journal of Neurophysiology, in which researchers used parameters like balance control and self-motion sensitivity.

The study was conducted on a tiny group of people between the age group of 18 to 30. They used the regression model for the study to gauge the extent to which cybersickness develops in people on being exposed to a zero-gravity space simulator.
