Highest footfall recorded in Kolkata Metro during Durgotsav

The highest-ever footfall was recorded in Kolkata in the metro on Tuesday with around 9.11 lakh commuters on the seventh day of Navaratras or Shashti.

This level of footfall was recorded in the city for the first time ever since its creation. The last highest footfall before this was 8.78 lakhs in September this year.

The Kolkata Metro deployed 300 trains on October 15 to take care of all the rush going to or coming back from the puja.

An official statement was released by the Indian Railways according to which 224 services were scheduled for Saptmi, Ashtami and Navmi from 1.40 PM to 4.00 AM and for the tenth day, 118 services will be available from 1.40 PM to 10.00 PM.

Extra security arrangements have also been made to manage the rush and medical personnel have also been appointed at the metro stations till the end of the Durga Puja.
