Now shop on Instagram without leaving the app

Date:

Instagram is an addictive app and its parent, Facebook, is looking at ways to ensure you stay hooked for even longer. The photo and video sharing service is exploring a new tool that will allow you to shop products you drool over while scrolling.

The tool, called Checkout, is currently available in the US. If you find a product that you like, you can buy it without leaving the app, Instagram explained through its official blog.

Currently, there are a handful of brands such as Adidas, Burberry, H&M, Prada, and Zara that support the ‘Checkout on Instagram’ button on the product page. Once you tap on it, you will be able to choose the size or colour, and proceed to payment, all without having to leave Instagram.

Interestingly, one will be required to enter the name, email, billing information, and shipping address for only the first check out. The details will be stored securely, as Instagram claims, for the convenience of customers, turning the social media service into an e-commerce platform.
