Four kms from Badnagar, in Jafla village, after independence, first time a Dalit man was able to take his marriage procession. Thanks to the SDM of the region Avi Prasad.

After being stopped for taking a procession, Neeraj, son of Ranchod, the groom took the help of the SDM, who immediately came in action and the procession was taken out peacefully under Police protection.

Barnagar police station in-charge Vivek Kanodia said, “We have caught some people trying to block the marriage procession. Police have been deployed in strength to prevent any flare-up.”

Police booked around eight members of the upper caste community. They have been booked under relevant sections of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Kanodia said.
