Lamborghini launches ‘Aventador S’ in India

Date:

Lamborghini has launched the two-seater supercar Aventador S at a price of Rs 5.01 crore (ex-showroom). Deemed as the mid-life upgrade to the standard Aventador, the Aventador S is the company’s second new offering in this year. The Italian supercar maker Lamborghini, launched the Huracan RWD Spyder last month.

The Aventador S supercar has been launched in India only in the coupe model and boasts of the same 6.5-litre, naturally aspirated V12 engine that powered its predecessor.

The engine for the Aventador S is re-tuned to generate 740PS of power and 690Nm of torque. That’s almost 10PS less than the SV trim but 40PS more than the car it replaces.

The common factor in all three avatars of the Aventador are the torque figures, electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system, and the seven-speed ISR (Independent Shifting Rods) gearbox. Lamborghini claims that the Aventador S can complete the 0-100kmph sprint in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 350kmph.

The Aventador S is the first production-specification Lamborghini that comes with a four-wheel-steer technology. At high speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels to achieve higher cornering stability. However, at low speeds, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels. The idea is to decrease the turning radius of the car and make it more user-friendly.
While the standard Aventador had three different driving modes (STRADA, SPORT and CORSA), the ‘S’ gets four. The additional mode is called EGO and once engaged, it lets the driver set up the engine, steering and suspension separately.
