Three Muslim men attacked in Delhi by ‘cow vigilantes’ for transporting buffalo

Adding another case to the list, a group of cow vigilantes attacked two buffalo traders and a truck driver in Delhi.

The men, around 15, claiming to be animal welfare activists, thrashed the traders and the driver of the truck in which they were transporting the buffalo at the Kalkaji Mandir area.

Delhi Police has reportedly arrested the cattle traders under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act on 23 April but has not yet delved into arresting the tormentors. The three men beaten up by the group are from Pataudi, Haryana has been identified as Ashu and Kamil and truck driver Rizwan. They were on their way to Ghazipur Mandi when their journey was disrupted.

“Three people took buffaloes for legal slaughter where PFA (People for Animals) entered into a scuffle. Not Gau Raksha Dal, they were members of an NGO which has been working for many years in Delhi,” said an inspector of Delhi Police.
According to reports, People For Animals, an organisation ringed the police control room at midnight on 22nd of April 2017 with the information of a truck carrying buffalos feloniously.

The three men, all in their 20s, were already injured when police reached the spot and took them to AIIMS hospital and said that they suffered “minor injuries”.

“The three men have sustained minor wounds and have been taken to AIIMS. We don’t know yet where the truck was coming from,” said Ved Prakash, Station House Officer (SHO) at the Kalkaji police station.

Ashu, the victim reiterated that he had buffalos not cows in the truck.
