The employees while aware of the obstacles and hardships that come along with living as a trans person in society, hope some change can come about post this development. Used to the stares, second glances and humiliation their community is subject to, they hope this ridicule will transform into acceptance soon. Thus, they have a message for the commuters of Kochi Metro.

In a video posted by a Facebook page called Kerala information, members of the transgender community working at the Kochi metro speak to you about how they want to be treated… just like anyone else.

“When you look at me, don’t look twice,” they say.

In this video, these transgender employees make it clear that while they certainly do not deserve ridicule or harassment but they also don’t want your pity or sympathy.
