Marsh brothers smash tons as Australia cruise towards another victory

Date:

Marsh brothers rose to prominence once again as Australia cruised towards another win in the Ashes, which they lead 3-0 after 4 games. With 1 day to play, England have just 6 wickets in hands and are still trailing Australia by 210 runs.

England were 93/4 at the stumps of day 4 in the 5th and final Ashes Test, with skipper Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow on the crease. Root was on 42 after facing 124 balls, while Bairstow was playing on 17 from 45 balls.

Ending up the day with taking 4 big wickets of England in the second innings, Australia are in cruise control of the 5th and final Test match of ongoing Ashes series at Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney.

Earlier, Australia started the first session of the fourth day with having Marsh brothers on the crease and both of them scored centuries for the team. Just after scoring the century, Mitchell Marsh got bowled by Tom Curran but the duo helped Aussies to gain a great lead.

Shaun Marsh reached to his 150 but unfortunately got run out because of a bad call from Tim Paine. At the end, Australia declared their innings 649 runs and gave England 303-run trail.

England’s Alastair Cook started the second innings by reaching the 12000 Test runs milestone but got clean bowled by Nathan Lyon after scoring just 10 runs. By scoring the 12000 Test run, Cook became the youngest batsman to achieve this feat. On the other hand, flop show from Stoneman, Vince, Malan continued. None of them took the responsibility of the team by supporting skipper Joe Root from another end.

In this series, four bowlers from Australia (Starc – 22, Hazlewood – 20, Cummins – 20, Lyon – 20) took 20 or more wickets which happened only for the third time in the history of Test cricket.

At Stumps, Joe Root is batting with Jonny Bairstow at 93 for the loss of 4 wickets and England are trailing by 210 runs.
