Girl advised to enter temple for safety, gang-raped inside

Date:

Yet another shocking incident of depravity occurred in the country, where a 23-year-old college girl was gang-raped in a temple in Madhya Pradesh.

The girl had come to meet her boyfriend in Patlawad village near Dhamnod where she was ambushed by one of the rapists, reports TOI.

“She came by bus to settle a lovers’ quarrel and was waiting near the temple, close to a stone mine, when one of the accused approached her, asking why she was all alone,” Dhamnod police station in-charge Mohan Jat said quoted in a report.

“He advised her to move into the temple compound for her safety. But he summoned two others, who locked the channel gate to the temple and then took turns to rape her.”

Later, the rapists left her in the temple and fled. Almost immediately, the girl called up her boyfriend but his phone was switched off. She then dialled one of his pals who called the police.

In spite of all she had been through, the girl did not lose her presence of mind. She noted that one of the rapists had a bike with a ‘Sanju Baba’ sticker stuck to it. She even gave descriptions of her rapists which helped the police to track them down.

30-year-old Sanjay Patel, one of the three rapists, broke down and admitted his crime. He then named his friends Akhilesh Patel and Mahadev Patidar to the police, reports TOI.

The temple where the horrific incident took place is under construction and an idol of Lord Shiva is to be installed on the premises, Jat told the paper.
