No politics please, says Rajinikanth the pilgrim

Date:

Actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth is on his annual spiritual pilgrimage to the Himalayas. He was spotted in Kangra airport today. On being asked about his political party on way to mountains, he is said to have refused to comment on politics.

“I am on a pilgrimage here. It (the visit) is excellent, so divine and different from routine. I do not want to talk politics here,” the superstar told mediapersons.

Rajinikanth was on spotted yesterday at the ‘Mahavtar Baba Ashram’ meditation centre in the remote village of Kandabari, Uttarnchal.

The actor is a disciple of Yogananda Swami and had also made a movie, Baba on the divine powers of Mahavtar Babaji earlier. It is believed that the Tamil superstar considers Yogananda and Mahavtar Babaji who was the guru of Yogananda’s guru, Lahiri Mahashya. The baba who is an almost-mythical figure is said to be a mystic yogi who is several hundred years old. Only a handful of yogis residing in the Himalayas have spoken of having seen this mystical saint.

The actor, who is on a “private visit” to Himachal Pradesh, had earlier this year announced to launch a political party and contest all 234 assembly constituencies in 2021 Tamil Nadu elections.

The newly-declared politician arrived at the Kangra airport yesterday and is expected to stay here for at least 10 days.
