The most awaited global hatchback Suzuki Swift has finally made its debut in its home country Japan. The all new Swift will go on sale in Japan on January 4, 2017, while the global model for other countries will be uncovered at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017.
Going through its design and appearance, the 2017 Swift sports a completely unique front fascia including the hexagonal grille with chrome linings, tweaked bumpers, a full-width black dividing line followed by fog lamp hoses at the both ends and totally modified and sportier headlamps. The overall dimensions and body style still bears the attitude of Swift, though.
The rear has also received sportier touches dropping the smoothly finished tail lamps and bumpers and gets a little edgy instead. A black cut in the C-pillar connects the doors and rear windshield flawlessly. Also, the handles of the rear passenger doors are now mounted vertically on the C-pillars.

The Cabin of the Swift seems much premium than the current model in India. It gets an all-black dashboard with conventional AC apertures at the side and round vents at the centre. The centre console sports a big infotainment screen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android auto. The steering and gear knob comes leather wrapped adding a premium touch.
In Japan, new Swift will be awarded standard 1.2 dual jet petrol engine with 67 PS and a more powerful 1.0-litre making 102 PS of power. In the 1.2-litre engine, it will sport mild hybrid technology for better fuel efficiency. The variants for the Japan in with 1.2 engine are- Hybrid ML, XL, Hybrid RS, RS and XG while the 1.0 version will come in RSt variant.
The prices of the Swift for the Japanese markets starts at ¥ 1.3 million (about Rs 7.75 lakh) and goes up to ¥ 1.9 million (about Rs 11.21 lakh). In Japan, Swift will also be prepared in 4WD variant. Indian Swift will most likely get a 1.2-litre standard engine and a 1.0-litre booster jet engine options.
When launched in India, the Swift will be manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s plant in Gujarat which will start functioning in February.
