Apex Court rejects Sahara plea

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday has turned down the Sahara proposal for paying Rs 2500 crore immediately and rest Rs 2500 crore within 21 days of Subrata Roy’s release.

The Sahara Group pleaded inability to immediately deposit Rs 10,000 crore, terms set by the top court as a condition for releasing Subrata Roy.

A day after the apex court imposed a condition that Roy will be freed on bail only if he pays Rs 10,000 crore out of which Rs 5,000 crore has to be in bank guarantee, Roy’s lawyers said providing a guarantee of this size will take at least three months.
