India is trying to make the Indian backed Chabahar port which is in Iran, operational by 2019, despite the threat of a renewed US sanctions against Tehran, the government said in a statement on Friday.

With the opening of the port, it will be easy for transportation and the CIS countries Transport and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari said in the statement.
