Sensex Nifty fall for the third straight session; while rupee continues to gain

Benchmark indices ended the week in the negative (Friday being a trading holiday). Sensex was down 218.78 points at 34,981.02, for the third straight session on Thursday, while the Nifty was lower by 73.20 points at 10,526.80.

Among sectors, financials, consumption, energy, metals and pharma saw the most losses. The Indian rupee strengthened for the seventh consecutive day, its longest winning streak since February 2017, against the US dollar as crude oil prices fell.
