New Delhi: Hundreds of BJP workers are protesting on the the Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) Flyway, demanding that the high-speed road be made toll-free.
Around 400 BJP activists gathered on the DND and blocked traffic. They demanded that the toll collected for using the road be done away with, alleging that the operator of the flyway has made significant profits already.
The DND Flyway connects Delhi on the west bank of the Yamuna, with East Delhi and Noida on the rivers eastern banks.
It is operated by the Noida Toll Bridge Company Ltd (NTBCL), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) promoted by the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) and Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd (IL & FS). NTBCL operates the flyway on a Build Own Operate Transfer (BOOT) basis.
