A big cat was spotted for the first time by a camera trap near the Bandhwari forest in Aravallis. The area is under massive real estate developments. The leopard was barely 5 kms from the habitat.
The news caused panic in the residents, mainly of sector 57 and Sushant Lok,as message went viral on social media like whatsapp. They were advised to stay indoors. The forest department team didn’t find any leopard when they came.

“We are going to increase the number of camera traps and install them in areas like Bandhwari, Manger, Wazirabad and Ghata,the 30-kilometre-long forest patch from Bandhwari to Damdama, which covers more than 5,000 hectares of forest, acts as wildlife corridor between Asola Bhatti in Delhi to Sariska Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan.” said conservator of forest (Gurgaon circle) MD Sinha.
