Mumbai artist named on international art jury panel

Mumbai: An international art competition being held in London later this year will have a city-based artist as a jury member.

The theme of the contest organised by World Citizen Artists is ‘Peace’ and winners will be declared on December 5, 2014. Selected works will be exhibited at the Belgravia Gallery from December 11, 2014 to January 12. 2015.

Prakash Bal Joshi, a former senior political journalist with a leading daily here, will be on the jury, a press release said. He has exhibited his works in Europe, USA, Turkey, Bhutan and other international art hubs.

“Global art movement World Citizens Artists, in partnership with London based Belgravia Gallery and Playing for Change Foundation, has organised an international art and music competition to promote peace in war-torn world.

“It is a rare opportunity for emerging and established artists from South East Asia to participate and exhibit their art works in the prestigious Belgravia Gallery where the works of Picasso, Andy Warhol, Matisse, Prince of Wales, Nelson Mandela and others are exhibited.

“The art works of winners will also be featured by the renowned Playing for Change Foundation on their website and social media channels,” it said.

World Citizen Artists has been launched to harness the expressive power of art as a way of raising global awareness and responsibility. The movement comprises artists from more than twenty countries around the world and has an active online magazine.

Belgravia Gallery is one of Europe’s leading art galleries which regularly feature the work of renowned artists and celebrities. It was named the “Gallery of the Year 2013”.
