No bomb found after lipstick alert grounds Turkish Airlines

New Delhi: Aviation authorities said no explosives were detected on board a Turkish Airlines aircraft which made an emergency landing at the New Delhi airport on Tuesday after a bomb scare. The plane was declared safe after nearly six hours.

Civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said at a press conference that the questioning of 134 passengers travelling by the aircraft was over and that the flight would take off by 10.30 pm.

No passengers have been detained so far, he said.

Earlier, a Turkish Airline flight made an emergency landing at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport following a bomb threat.

According to reports, there was a message written in lipstick – bomb in cargo hold – on bathroom mirror of the flight informing about a bomb in the luggage compartment.

The Turkish airlines flight TK-65 which was going from Bangkok to Istanbul has been isolated. The pilot approached the Delhi Air Traffic Control, following which it was granted priority landing permission under full emergency conditions.

Emergency has been declared at the airport and passengers have been evacuated.

The flight is being inspected by a team of NSG, CISF and Delhi Police. Passengers are being quizzed by security forces.

An emergency meeting of airport, civil aviation and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security officials is on. Home Minister Rajnath singh spoke to DG CISF over phone who apprised him of the situation at the IGI airport post the emergency landing.
