Mumbai: The official trailer of Salman Khan-starrer Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace received clearance from the Censor Board on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film also features Chitrangada Singh in a crucial role.
According to official report, the trailer has received a U/A 16+ certificate and has a runtime of 4 minutes and 43 seconds.
However, despite the trailer clearance, the film’s theatrical release on its earlier expected date of November 6 appears unlikely due to delays in securing the censor certificate for the full feature.
The report states that the producers are evaluating a revised release schedule, with November 20 or December 11 being considered as possible dates. Jio Studios is handling the film’s all-India theatrical distribution. An official announcement regarding the revised release date is expected shortly.
Initially announced as Battle Of Galwan, the film was renamed Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace earlier this year. It is based on the 2020 military standoff between India and China. The project previously faced clearance hurdles over its thematic content and references to China, particularly amid evolving diplomatic relations between the two countries, before receiving government clearance.
In the war drama, Salman Khan portrays Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, the Commanding Officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment who led Indian troops during the 2020 Galwan Valley clash. He was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra.
The film captures Colonel Santosh Babu’s tactical leadership, resilience and supreme sacrifice along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). His character anchors the realistic military action sequences as well as the emotional core of the conflict.
The film also features Mukesh Rishi, Ankur Bhatia, Zeyn Shaw and Abhilash Chaudhary in key roles, portraying military officers and personnel involved in the border operation.
