Even though Ranvir Singh and Arjun Kapoor were slated to play the part of Ram and Lakhan, rumours now suggest that it would be students of the year Sidharth and Varun who would be playing these roles.
Ever since Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty joined hands for the remake of the iconic movie, Ram Lakhan, there were strong winds blowing in favour of Karan’s favourite students Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra to play the lead roles.
The rumours turned out to be true, as according to the latest buzz, Sidharth and Varun, who are undoubtedly the modern day Ram-Lakhan will be seen sharing the screens once again.
If grapevine is to be believed, Varun and Sidharth are filmmaker Rohit’s first choice for his remake.
The film is a remake of Subhash Ghai’s film, which starred Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia and Madhuri Dixit, in the the leads roles.
There are also speculations that Sidharth will play Jackie’s character Ram, while Varun will be seen as Lakhan, which was Anil’s character in the film.
Although, earlier, there were reports that Gunday actors, Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh would be seen in the lead roles, but guess something went wrong and the role finally came into the lap of these two rising stars—Varun and Sidharth.
Although, Anil Kapoor was very eager to see his Dil Dhadakne Do co-star Ranveer Singh to play the role of Lakhan in the film but it seems now even he is fine with the maker’s choice.

“I don’t know. I think it depends on filmmakers. There are certain filmmakers who are casting actors more for the excitement of first look than getting the perfect cast for a bigger picture,” Anil said.
On the career part, Varun is all geared up with his upcoming project Dilwale, which is also directed by Rohit Shetty and also features Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Kriti Sanon and Vinod Khanna. On the other hand, Sidharth is basking the success of Brothers which also starred Akshay Kumar and Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead roles and was produced by KJo’s Dharma Production.
