Pharrell announces new Live Earth concerts with Al Gore

Date:

London: In a bid to raise awareness of climate change, Pharrell Williams and Al Gore have announced new Live Earth concerts. Launching the event at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Gore said the vision for Live Earth was to have a billion voices with one message that is to demand climate action now.

Williams, who is the event’s creative director, said instead of just having people perform, they literally are going to have humanity harmonise all at once.

The event comes eight years after the original, which featured stars such as Madonna, The Police and Metallica.

According to Rolling Stone, Gore and Pharrell, along with a returning Kevin Wall, plan to have “over 100 artists” perform across the same seven continents – Paris, New York, Brazil, South Africa, China and Australia – on June 18, 2015, in order to “spread environmental awareness.”
